My new tyres were due to arrive at the motorcycle shop on 25/09/18, and they did, but 15 minutes before closing! I returned at 9am today. Javier of Talleres el Venta in El Puerto de Santa Maria has been very helpful and patient wit ordering specific tyres for me. The tyres come highly recommend...

I stayed a few miles north of Gibraltar last night to explore Gibraltar this morning. I arrived at the border crossing at about 0830. It was busy and frantic with lots of bikes squeezing between gaps between cars and buses. All of a sudden, I noticed the motorcycle in front wave a passport at the po...

My task for today was to change the engine oil. I'd like to be a step ahead with motorcycle maintenance, so an oil change now is premature, but the next change will be somewhere around South Africa. I headed into Seville.

Riding round an industrial area with supermarkets and a recycling centre, I...

So it turns out there were lots more ants than I first realised last night. My bike was covered in ants! They were traipsing across my panniers, my food bag, inside my food bag (I hadn't secured it fully), my engine, my seat etc. The bike was parked close to shrubs with branches touching the bike. T...

Last night, I placed a rock on top of my rubbish bag, containing just a tin can, before bed. Whilst nodding off, there was a sound of the tin can toppling over. This morning, I can't see the bag or tin can anywhere. Something stole my rubbish! Need to be more careful next time.

I packed up camp, and ate a light breakfast of one fine-tasting apple, so that I could get going quickly. I was delayed on the track leading to the road because there was a fig tree! The best tasting figs I've ever experienced.

Today marks two weeks into the trip! I guess that's why I had the fo...

Before leaving the hostel, I took full advantage of the buffet breakfast. I had two pain au chocolat, three pastry things, a roll with butter and marmalade, coffee and orange juice. I also filled up my hydration bag in the hotel room. Watered and fed; I was happy.

Leaving Jaen, I was soon in Grana...

I travelled through the autonomous community of Andalucia to head into Jaen today. Every inch of Andalusia is covered with waves of olive trees. They are planted in lines, which makes sense, so it makes for interesting patterns on the hills!

I rode through a small town (I forgot to note the na...

Riding along the motorway this morning, I noticed some clouds on the horizon. I had just donned my sunglasses and couldn't ascertain the level of threat. An apocalyptic fog rose from the horizon within the space of ten minutes. The sky turned from blue to grey and visibility was reduced to one hundr...

On the road by 0900 today.

I passed a village with very traditional buildings that looked like it hadn't changed in years. In the distance, the hills were dotted with wind turbines and solar panels. The view was a stark difference between current and past times.

I rode a fantastic stretch of roa...
