After waking at 0600, I departed slightly later than planned today at 0830. I'm sure I'll get quicker packing up camp as it's only my second day of the shakedown!
The roads I have travelled on have mostly been quieter roads with the specific intention of avoiding motorways as they are less fun to ride. To make progress, I had a stint on the motorway today. The CRF250L cruised quite happily at 70 mph at about 7,000 rpm, with the occasional twist of the wrist up to a whopping 75-80 mph to overtake. Not a fast bike, but it was chosen for economy and reliability rather than speed!
I reached Scotland today and was about one hour South of Invereness before I pulled off the main road to find somewhere to camp. Within minutes, I had found a camp site but... where's the fun in that! I checked the map on my GPS and choose some dead end tracks to follow out of the village. I stumbled upon a lovely, quiet spot with two small tents setup in a field.
Feeling very excited about the what lies ahead in this shakedown but more for the real thing—my round the world (RTW) journey.
