My new tyres were due to arrive at the motorcycle shop on 25/09/18, and they did, but 15 minutes before closing! I returned at 9am today. Javier of Talleres el Venta in El Puerto de Santa Maria has been very helpful and patient wit ordering specific tyres for me. The tyres come highly recommend...

I stayed a few miles north of Gibraltar last night to explore Gibraltar this morning. I arrived at the border crossing at about 0830. It was busy and frantic with lots of bikes squeezing between gaps between cars and buses. All of a sudden, I noticed the motorcycle in front wave a passport at the po...

My task for today was to change the engine oil, for the first time whilst on the road. I'd like to be a step ahead with motorcycle maintenance, so an oil change now is premature, but the next change will be somewhere around South Africa. I headed into Seville.

So it turns out there were lots more ants than I first realised last night. My bike was covered in ants! They were traipsing across my panniers, my food bag, inside my food bag (I hadn't secured it fully), my engine, my seat etc. The bike was parked close to shrubs with branches touching the bike. T...

Leaving Jaen, I was soon in Grana...

I travelled through the autonomous community of Andalucia to head into Jaén today. Every inch of Andalusia is covered with waves of olive trees. They are planted in lines, which makes sense, so it makes for interesting patterns on the hills!

I rode through Villanueva del Arzobispo this morni...

Riding along the motorway this morning, I noticed some clouds on the horizon. I had just donned my sunglasses and couldn't ascertain the level of threat. An apocalyptic fog rose from the horizon within the space of ten minutes. The sky turned from blue to grey and visibility was reduced to one hundr...

On the road by 0900 today.

I passed a village with very traditional buildings that looked like it hadn't changed in years. In the distance, the hills were dotted with wind turbines and solar panels. The view was a stark difference between current and past times.

I rode a fantastic stretch of roa...
